We would like to share with you two opportunities that might be of interest to students at your university.

First, applications are being accepted for the International Development Design Summit (IDDS) which will take place from July 1 to July 31, 2013 in Zambia.  IDDS is an intense, hands-on design experience that brings together people from all over the world and all walks of life to create technologies and enterprises that improve the lives of people living in poverty.  Applications are due on March 15, 2013 but will be accepted until March 29, 2013 for students who are citizens of Zambia, Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.  Please note - applications open to students and others as well.  Learn More>>

Second, the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi) has opened a Call for Videos to be screened at the 6th International Barcelona Conference on Higher Education, to be held May 13 - 15, 2013 in Barcelona, Spain and featured on the GUNi website.  A synthesis of contributions will also be included in the forthcoming report, "Higher Education in the World 5."  Videos should be 2-3 minutes in length and must interpret the statement "The World We Imagine."  Submissions will be accepted until April 10, 2013. Learn More>>

"VU ACHIEVES ANOTHER MILESTONE” HIGHEST VU QEC RATING BY HEC

"Based on the latest assessment by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Virtual University (VU), Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) has been rated the highest, that is "W" category obtaining total score of 91% for the period ending December, 2012. The ‘W’ category is the top-most slot in QEC rating criteria. In a letter to Rector VU, HEC’s QAA Managing Director Prof. Dr. Azam Ali Khwaja appreciated the performance of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC). This landmark achievement is the result of vigorous and persistent efforts of QEC and academic staff of the university. HEC QAA assessment is done bi-annually to assess the performance of the Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) established at different Public and Private sector universities. VU’s QEC facilitates self-assessment, collects, analyze accurate information and shares internally with the academic functionaries which facilitates strategic planning and timely decision-making. This reflects excellent performance of VU’s QEC in affirming high quality standards of education delivery through VU’s Learning Management System (LMS).
