Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP) embarked on a massive tree plantation drive at Kala Shah Kaku (KSK) Campus. The main objective of the plantation drive was to create awareness about community engagement and social responsibility among the VU students. Students of the university, faculty members, and senior officials participated in the tree plantation drive and planted more than thousand saplings on the occasion. The activity was organized by the Environmental Protection Society and Student Week Core Committee of VUP. The plantation activity generated great enthusiasm among participants. A big number of faculty members participated in the activity.
Dr. Naveed A. Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan accompanied with principal officers of VUP visited KSK campus and formally inaugurated the tree plantation drive by planting a sapling. He said the sole purpose of plantation drive was to keep the surroundings clean, green and pollution-free, in addition to resisting global warming and adverse effects of climate change. He acknowledged the efforts of the Environmental Protection Society for promotion of green culture in VU campuses across the country.
Earlier, in connection with Independence Day, a flag-hoisting ceremony was also arranged at KSK campus. Dr. Naveed A. Malik hoisted the national flag and congratulated the university employees and students on celebrating the Independence Day. He asked them to work hard with honesty and dedication for the progress of VU and the country.
Meanwhile, all campuses of VU across the country will organize various activities in connection to the Independence Day with traditional zeal and zest by holding national flag hoisting, cake cutting ceremonies, plantation and other events to observe the day.
