Announcement for Need Based Scholarships for Spring, 2020



Students are informed that the need-based scholarship link for Spring - 2020 semester has been opened for deserving students. If you are a deserving student and you are eligible to apply for a need-based scholarship, please apply at your earliest. The last date to apply for a need-based scholarship is April 10, 2020.

The procedure to apply for the need-based scholarship is as follows;

1. From within the LMS, click the "Student Services" button

2. Click on the "Need Based Scholarship" link, under "Accounts" Section

3. A form will be displayed.

4. Fill in the required information

5. Click the Submit Request button.

Fall 2019 Semester Result Declared and Published.



Fall 2019 semester result has been declared and published. The students are advised to check their LMS Grade Books.

Notice Regarding Closing of Campuses as Precautionary Measures Against Corona virus

Dear Campus Managers/ In-charges/ Administrators

In compliance with the orders of the Government of Pakistan and respective Provincial Governments, campuses of the Virtual University of Pakistan (VU Owned and PVCs) all over the country, shall remain closed with immediate effect till Sunday, 5th April 2020.

During the said period, strict compliance with the following instructions is mandatory:
Notice shall be displayed at the prominent place(s) outside the campus for the general public regarding the closure of campus on directives of the Government.
Contact details of the Campus Manager/Administrator shall be clearly mentioned in the notice.
In case, any documents including transcripts and degrees are received at the concerned campuses, necessary arrangements for handing over the documents to the relevant student/ person shall be made.
Admission-related shall be dealt with on the phone and where necessary, adequate arrangements may be done to facilitate the individuals.
Security staff shall remain highly vigilant and present on duty at all times under close observation of the concerned campus in charge.
Campus staff shall remain available on call and keep in contact through official e-mails.

In case of need, concerned Regional Campus Managers (RCMs) should be contacted on their respective phone numbers or official e-mails.

Further instructions may be issued, when necessary.

Developer Student Clubs is launching an annual contest called the Solution Challenge which invites students to develop solutions for local community problems using one or more Google products or platforms. Top 10 Winning teams from across the world will be flown to Sunnyvale, California to demo their solutions to Googlers!



Students of Virtual University of Pakistan can avail the opportunity to register for Solution Challenge. After registration, students will be invited to Parthean, an online community where 80+ Google Developer Experts will provide support and mentorship.

Blocking of VULMS Accounts




The University has blocked LMS accounts of all those students who have payable dues. Students with blocked accounts will not be able to view Fall'19 (Final Term) result and make course selection for Spring, 2020 semester. It is therefore advised to clear outstanding dues at the earliest and get LMS accounts unblocked.

Virtual University Software House is inviting applications from VU students enrolled in Faculty of Computer Science.

VU intends to Bridge Industry-Academia Gap by equipping students with state of the art technology and engaging them to work toward Minimal Viable Product (MVP) under the supervision of Professionals from Industry. Students who are enrolled in Final Year Project will be given vigorous training through Workshops on in-demand cutting edge Technology primarily PHP / Laravel / Drupal /.Net / Android and iOS and Software Engineering (Requirement Engineering, Software Design and Architecture) related topics. Standard Project Management Practices including Sprint and Retrospective sessions, Multiple vigorous Reviews of SRS and Design Artifacts; are followed to monitor student work on weekly basis and appropriate feedback is given accordingly. This initiative will help students’ transition from Academic to Professional life in smooth way. After completion of Final Year Projects, students are trained for Jobs but can also pursue career towards Entrepreneurship.

Shortlist criteria

All the application received against the above mentioned announcement is shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria. Students who fulfill the criteria are called for interview.



Eligibility Criteria:
BSCS, BSIT, BS (Software Engineering) or MCS/M.Sc. in Computer Science students
Student should be in a 7th semester of Bachelor Degree or 3rd semester of Master Degree or eligible to enroll in CS619.
Effective CGPA is 2.75
At least B grade in Introduction to Programming, Database Management System, Object Oriented Programming, Data Structure, Analysis and Design of Algorithm
Student should have minimum number of courses along with final year project.

Call for interview

A call for interview to the shortlisted students will be sent on their email ids. Students are requested to use VU email address for communication.

Interview SOP

Each panel member grades the student individually by considering its various technical skills like:
Programming Concepts
OOP
DBMS
Data Structure
Analysis and Design of Algorithm
Software Engineering



Coding Session:

After this interview coding session will be conducted of 45 minutes. The purpose of this session is to analyze the students’ analytical, programming/coding skills.

Average grade of interview and coding session will be considered for final selection of the students. A formal invitation will be sent to the selected students to join VU software house.

Note:
There will be no stipend during stay in Software House for two semester
Selected students will have to work from 9:00 AM to 9:00PM (5 Days a Week) in VU-Software House
This is not an Internship Opportunity.
After successful completion of Final Year Project, official letter of completion will be issue to Project Group Members.

Who can participate?
Any student of Virtual University having interest in entrepreneurship or business creation or student who:

is planning to start his/her own business
is currently running a business
had started a business in past but failed to conduct it successfully and wanted to look at the idea with different perspective


Student can be from any field (Life Sciences, Computer Sciences, Business Administration, Social Sciences and Arts etc.)
